Note: I do not feel right posting pictures of fellow cruisers who have not given me permission to use them on the blog, so I will blur out the faces of people in the background of my photos. I’m sorry if it looks funny, but I want to respect their privacy.
Also, anytime you see red text, it is a link to either product information or another one of my blog posts that gives more detailed information about that topic.

When I left off on part 1 we were just reboarding the ship after our outing in Cartagena. When we got back to our room, someone had pixie-dusted us with 2 door magnets!
Thank you to whoever did this!
We stayed in the room for a little while and rested. The girls watched some TV and ate their Mickey rice crispy treats from the Castaway Club reception. I did some organizing and switched my stuff from my Belle bag to my custom DCL bag.
Soon we were all in the mood to hit the pool. They were showing Hercules on funnel vision at 12:15 and we love that movie so we headed up to deck 9 at about 12:00.
On the way, we stopped to take some pictures of the scenery.
In the picture below you can see the area that we visited earlier. It is the clump of trees just to the left of center:
Here is a close-up:
Not many people were at the Goofy pool:
Before too long I started to get hungry and went looking for food. This Build a Bowl Station is new since the last time I was on the Wonder. The offerings changed daily and consisted of soups, pastas, quinoa, and lots of fresh veggies that you could mix and match.
I decided to get a wrap from Daisy’s DeLites next door:
Still hungry, I eventually headed to Cabanas and brought back a plate to our table next to the pool. I didn’t remember to take a picture until I had already started eating. I guess I was in the mood for shrimp.
It was pretty warm outside, so I decided to join the girls in the pool to cool off.
Their goggles are by Bling 2O and come in lots of different styles and colors. They make them for boys as well.
Also, these are their rash guards I previously mentioned. They probably paid for themselves with the amount of sunscreen that we saved!
I let the girls play with my waterproof camera. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I love this camera! It looks like a new model is about to be released (TG-5) so the current model (TG-4) might be hard to find right now. You’re best bet would probably be to preorder the TG-5.
Eventually the girls were hungry for lunch.
About this time, Pluto was walking around the pool area.
The girls ate their usual lunch of cheese pizza and chicken tenders.
Of course they had to finish it off with ice cream. Today’s flavors were blueberry and pina colada. I was SO excited to see the pina colada. I have never seen this flavor on a cruise before and it is one of my favorites!
She had perfected her soft-serve technique by this point:
The girls went back to the pool and then this guy walked by with a Margarita cart! I have never seen this before either. Yes, please!
The pool was still not very crowded, despite the fact that it was now all ashore time and pretty warm outside.
I took a few more pictures as the ship was pulling away:
At 3:00 they held a Sailaway Deck Party which was really fun! All of the characters were out, and they eventually did a conga line around the pool. There were not many people there, so it sort of felt like a private party.
During the party we were sailing right past the city skyline so I took some final pictures:
Then Mickey walked right past our table:
At about 4:00 the girls said they wanted to go back to the rooms and rest until dinner. My girls don’t usually nap, but they were worn out today!
At some point this afternoon, Captain Robert made a ship-wide announcement about our schedule for the Panama Canal the following day. He told us the approximate times that the ship would be entering & leaving the 2 sets of locks. I will write more about this in tomorrow’s post. He also told us the weather forecast for the following day: high of 86, with a mixture of showers and sun.
I took advantage of this down time to do my first load of laundry on a Disney cruise ship. There was a laundry room on our floor, although it was quite a far walk. It was starboard aft, and we were starboard forward so I basically had to walk the entire length of the ship to get there. When I arrived there was one washing machine opened (out of 5 ) so I quickly bought detergent from the machine and started my load. I would have taken pictures of the laundry room, but there were always people in it and they may have thought I was crazy. I ended up having to wait a few minutes when I came back for a dryer, but it was no big deal. While I was waiting I chatted with a woman who told me about their excursion in Cartagena. She said that they didn’t enjoy it very much as it was very hot and they hardly had any time at each location that they stopped at. She said it was just too rushed.
Soon it was time to wake the girls for dinner. Luckily they woke up easily and at 5:45 we went to Animator’s Palate.
We took some pictures on the way:
Tonight’s menu was the Seasons menu:
There was no show, although they did show scenes from movies on the screens.
For the appetizer, I ordered the North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli which was very good:
My husband ordered the Seafood Sampler (crab legs, shrimp & smoked salmon):
For the next course we both ordered the Chopped Iceberg Lettuce and Baby Spinach Salad which was good:
For my entree I chose the Grilled Garlic Jumbo Shrimp. It was on a bed of orzo pasta and it was very good:
My husband chose the Osso Buco:
For dessert, some of us ordered the Peanut Butter Fudge Pie which was excellent:
Others got the Brownie Sundae:
After dinner, some of us were cold so we went back to the rooms to grab our sweaters. Next, we went to the shops where I had plans to make a big purchase. At my husband’s urging, I bought myself a DCL Dooney & Bourke bag. Well, technically he bought it for me since I don’t bring home a paycheck.
According to the paperwork that came with it, the print is called DCL Voyage and the style is the Weekender. The CM I purchased it from was nice enough to give me a brand new one in the packaging rather than the sample that was on the floor. I had been eyeing this bag throughout the entire cruise and I was so excited to have it!
My husband took the bag back to our room, and our 12 year old went with him because she didn’t want to go to the show tonight. She was tired and just wanted to watch TV and go to bed. He was also going to skip the show and watch Dr. Strange in the Buena Vista theater at 8:15.
So, the younger 2 girls and I headed to the Walt Disney Theater for tonight’s show, “The Music and Comedy of John Charles”. We had seen John Charles on a previous cruise and really enjoyed his show, so we were looking forward to this one. We got to the theater a little bit early and they hadn’t even opened the doors yet, so we stood in line. We happened to be right behind 2 celebrities! At least, celebrities from the 2017 Westbound Panama Canal cruise on the Disney Wonder: Captain Puckett and Santa! Here are both of them in the same shot:
And a close up of Santa:
When the theater opened we were able to get really good seats on the second or third row in the center. We really enjoyed this show again. John interacts with the audience so no 2 shows are the same and it is a lot of fun. My 10 year old, who was sitting on the aisle, caught John’s attention pretty early in the show, probably because there were hardly any kids in there and she was sining and clapping along. He pointed to her and told her he would get to her in a minute. Sure enough, a few minutes later he came over and talked with both of the girls. He asked them their names and then began ad-libbing a song with their names in it. They thought it was hilarious.
After the show, we were all tired and went to bed. These were our towel animals for the evening:
Up next, the biggest day of the entire cruise: The Panama Canal!

I absolutely love your black shirt you wore to Animators Palate! Where did you find it?
Disney Cruise Mom says
Thank you Charlene! It is actually navy blue and I got it at Stein Mart, probably about 2 months go. If you have one near you, go quickly because they may still have it! I have gotten TONS on compliments on it. There is something about the type of fabric and the way that it hangs that is very flattering. I hope you can find it!

Is it true to size? I’m kind of between sizes depending upon fit.
Disney Cruise Mom says
It’s pretty true to size but if you are in-between I would size up as it definitely does not run large. If I had to choose one I would say it runs a tiny bit small.
Disney Cruise Mom says
I just found it online! All sizes in stock and on sale!
