About two years ago I wrote a review for a new set of TravelWise packing cubes that I bought (you can read it here). I loved them so much that I bought two more sets and have been using them every time that we travel. Well, you can imagine how excited I was when EatSmart Products recently reached out to me and let me know that they have added 4 new colors to their 5 piece packing cubes set! The new colors are lime green, blue, pink and lavender. I chose the lime green and blue because I already have sets in purple, turquoise and pink and I like to give each person in our family their own color to keep things organized.
Each set of 5 packing cubes comes with 4 of the cubes collapsed inside of the 5th cube:
Once you unwrap them all, they look like this:
Each set comes with 2 large cubes (17.5″ x 12.75″ x 4″), 2 medium cubes (13.75″ x 9.75″ x 3.75″), and 1 small cube (11.5″ x 6.75″ x 3.75″). For my last review, I demonstrated how I used them to pack my clothes for a cruise and gave some details about how much I could fit in each one. This time, I had a laundry basket of my 11 year old’s clean clothes nearby so I decided to test these out with those. This is what I started with:
Believe it or not, I managed to get all of these clothes (which included 3 pairs of jeans and a pair of fluffy fleece pajama pants) into 1 large and 1 medium packing cube:
If I were packing for a vacation, I would have used the other packing cubes for things like shoes, swimwear, toiletries, electronics & chargers, books, etc. Here are some close-ups so you can see how deep they are:
To give you a sense of scale, I grabbed one of the girls’ carry-on sized suitcases (which they use every time that we fly so that we don’t have to pay to check bags for them) and placed the 2 filled packing cubes inside. The large cube is only slightly smaller than the suitcase so it went in first, and I placed the medium cube on top of it:
I would typically place any loose items underneath the large packing cube and then another medium or small cube in the extra space on the left, and then use the suitcase straps to secure it all in case the suitcase accidentally came open during transit. I know it looks like the suitcase might not close, but I zipped the one above and it closed easily. A carry-on size suitcase could not hold all 5 cubes if they were completely full, but it might if each cube was only about half full. However, a full-size suitcase could easily fit all 5 cubes completely filled, with room to spare. I know because I have done it many times!
One thing that I find so convenient about packing cubes is that whenever we are on a cruise ship or in a hotel room, I just take the cubes out of the suitcases and put them straight into drawers. It makes unpacking really quick and simple. Then, throughout the trip, I will occasionally open the drawers and reorganize the contents of the cubes, placing dirty clothes together in one cube and keeping them separate from the clean clothes. If I do laundry on the trip (click here to read about the laundry options on a Disney cruise ship), I can quickly locate and grab everyone’s dirty clothes from the drawers.
Another benefit of packing cubes is that if you use one color for each person, it makes it easy to disperse a family’s clothes among several suitcases while still keeping things separate and easy to identify. Some people like to do this in case any suitcase is lost or delayed, so that everyone will have at least some clothes to wear while waiting for the missing suitcase to be found and delivered.

Tried to enter your give away, followed the instructions and tapped on leave a comment but I could never get the text window to open to leave a comment. It only regesitered me leaving a comment when none was left. Please advise on how to correct. I really like the lime green color. If I win would use them on upcoming Merry Christmas cruise in December

Hi. I am really enjoying your blog and am finding so much useful info. Question on these cubes: do they save you space as part of a reason for using them instead of packing the clothes directly into the suitcase? Meaning can you pack more clothes in a suitcase with them than without? Thank you
Disney Cruise Mom says
Hi Shelly! I don’t think they save a lot of space, but I do think they save some space just because they help you stay organized, and an organized suitcase can typically hold more stuff than a disorganized one.

I’ve not found that packing cubes work for my family. I spent hours trying to make 2 different sets work for a family vacation and a year (And half a dozen trips) later, they still sit unused, ready to be sold at my next yard sale.
BUT….I might have gotten just a little excited about the Hogwarts PJs/shirt I see through the window of the cube!

Hi Sarah! Our family LOVES Harry Potter and I get excited by all things HP as well!
