I have traveled by airplane more times in this past year than I have in the last 10 years combined. Off the top of my head, I can think of 6 round trip flights last year, 4 of those with 3 kids in tow, and 2 of those with 3 kids in tow by myself, without another adult. Suffice it to say that I have been thinking a lot about travel organization during the past year and thus have discovered some products that really help. Put my frequent traveling together with my ultra-planning tendencies and obsessive compulsions to stay organized and you get the following items:
Packing Cubes
I have already done a product review about packing cubes, so I am not going to go into detail here. I will just tell you that I love these things and leave it at that. You can read my post about them by clicking here. You can shop for them by clicking here.
Packing Envelopes
These packing envelopes are similar to packing cubes, but flatter and meant for packing small items instead of clothes. These are perfect for charging cords, snacks, electronic devices, diapers, baby wipes, crayons/markers, medications, cosmetics, and I could go on and on. The possibilities are endless and will keep your carry-ons neat and tidy. You can shop for them by clicking here.
TSA Approved Travel Bottles
Count me among those who have had to throw away liquids at the security checkpoint. That sort of gets your travel day off to a bad start. I like these leak-proof bottles because I don’t have to worry about exceeding the volume limits and they already come in a clear bag like you are supposed to use when you take liquids through security. You can read more about them here. If you want to keep your liquids in their original containers (remember they must be 3.4 oz or less) and just need a TSA approved bag to put them in, I like this one. You can shop for travel bottles by clicking here and a TSA approved bag by clicking here.
Cable Organizer
I probably should have put this one first because keeping device chargers organized is my #1 problem while traveling. I typically have at least 6 devices and chargers in my carry on (my kids aren’t old enough that I can trust them to keep up with them on their own) and those cords are a nightmare. This cable organizer is a simple way to keep them all untangled and easy to find. You can shop for cable organizers by clicking here.
Colored Luggage Handles
It turns out that red suitcases aren’t all that unusual anymore. Or purple. Or green. I have all 3 and I still almost always start to pull the wrong suitcase off the conveyer belt before I realize it isn’t mine. These colored handles make it easy to find your luggage at baggage claim. They some in sets of 4, in various colors and patterns, and stretch to fit any bag handle. You can shop for luggage handles by clicking here.
Bag Bungee
I have managed to get 3 kids, 3 backpacks, 4 suitcases, and one carry on to/from the car to the baggage check counter/baggage claim by myself. No joke. It wasn’t easy. This bag bungee really simplifies things. I can strap a backpack, folded blanket, stuffed animal, shopping bag full of stuff that wouldn’t fit in my carry-on, etc to the top of a suitcase, hand it to a kid and tell them to pull it. You can shop for bag bungees by clicking here.
Toiletry Bag
Hanging toiletry bags like this one have been around for ages and I almost didn’t include it because I thought most people probably already have these. But, I use mine so much that I decided to include it just in case someone doesn’t know about them. Remember that unless all of your liquids are 3.4 oz or less, this will need to go into your checked luggage. When you get to your destination, just unzip it and hang it from something in the bathroom like a hook, towel bar or shower curtain rod. You can easily access your bathroom stuff and it makes repacking a cinch. You could even use these bags for things other than toiletries, such as jewelry, electronics or art supplies for kids. There are lots of different styles out there, and you can shop for them by clicking here.

I’m getting some bag bungees! But years ago I found another device that has been priceless….it attaches to Big bag and allows you to connect up to two more bags and roll them together. My hubby uses it to pull both of our big bags and I carry the others.
