This is the final post of Cynthia’s back-to-back Dream guest trip report. You can start from the beginning here.
Guest Trip Report: December 27, 2021 4 Night Sailing on the Disney Dream, Part 2
The final two days of our four-day cruise on the Dream saw us visiting Castaway Cay and enjoying a leisure day at sea. These always seem to be my favorite days on a Disney cruise. Castaway Cay is a great break from the ship and a day at sea is the perfect time to simply relax or take part in all the activities you have missed earlier in your cruise.
We arrived bright and early to Castaway Cay and experienced a smooth, uneventful docking that allowed us to disembark the ship fairly early – at least for us! The weather was absolutely perfect.
On our way to the family beach, we stopped to take a few pictures at some of our favorite photo spots on the island.
On our previous stop at Castaway during our three-day cruise, we noticed that Serenity Bay was still undergoing a lot of construction and refurbishment so there were a limited number of chairs and umbrellas, so we decided to bypass Serenity Bay and camp out at the family beach. Because of the lower capacity of the cruise, the family beach was not at all crowded. We selected our chairs and loungers, and spent the day enjoying the sun, water and food.
After a great lunch and some more relaxing, we headed back to the ship for afternoon activities. As I was walking around Deck 4, I took this picture of the island from a new vantage point. I think this is a fun view.
For the shorter cruises, we have found that there is no designated formal night. However, Mickey and Minnie still dressed in their finest formal attire for pictures. They looked fabulous.
Sea days also gives you a day to enjoy the ship at your favorite time of the day. For me that is dusk/sunset. We were so lucky on this cruise to experience some beautiful sunsets. The Dream looked stunning at night and the sunsets on this cruise did not disappoint.
Deck 4 was especially beautiful at night as well as during the day. I love Deck 4.
On the last evening of the cruise, my daughters and I spent a long period of time on Deck 12 watching the beautiful sunset. It was quite a show.
The final moments of the sunset were spectacular and sizable crowd assembled to watch the show.
Before I end this blog, I must mention our dining team. We were so lucky to have been assigned to Yuli and Bule’s table for both cruises. They were wonderful and were a perfect team! If you have an opportunity to meet these two fine gentlemen, you will be truly lucky and blessed.
After 7 glorious days of sunshine and fun, we arrived back in Port Canaveral on New Year’s Eve to clouds and fog!
No worries. We had plenty of time to make our way to the Orlando airport for our flight back home and we arrived in plenty of time to ring in 2022 in our hometown of fabulous Las Vegas.
We truly enjoyed our first back to back cruise experience and the completion of our Grand Slam. Despite the lower passenger capacity, we had a great time and are thankful for the cast members that made our trip fun, safe, and exciting.
We disembarked the Dream on December 31, 2021, knowing we would be returning to Port Canaveral in June for back to back cruises on the Wish, so we were not too sad about leaving. However, shortly after our time on the Dream we were notified that our back to back cruises on the Wish were part of the 12 canceled cruises because of the delay in completing the Wish. For now we have not rebooked on the Wish, but my husband and I did use one of our 50% offers (we were given two 50% off offers on future DCL cruises because of our two canceled Wish cruises) to book a 6 day cruise on the Magic out of New Orleans at concierge level (our first sailing at concierge). So for now, we look forward to our March 2023 sailing on the Magic as well as our May 2023 15 day Viking Grand European River cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.
