A reader recently sent me these photos of Castaway Cay cabana #20. She is a photographer so these photos are amazing! If you want more general details about the cabanas including how to reserve one, what’s included, cost, etc., you can find out by reading my post about cabanas #5 and #6 here. These photos of cabana #20 were taken in June 2017.
Cabana #20 is one of the 4 cabanas (18-21) that were more recently constructed. I believe they were finished in 2014. Because of this, these 4 cabanas do not have the lush foliage surrounding them like 1-17 do and thus are not quite as private from their neighbors. You can see in the photos that you have a clear view of your neighbor’s patios. I’m sure one day the plants will fill in and will create the type of privacy that the older cabanas have, but for now they are a bit more bare. Cabana #20 is also next door to the last cabana on the family beach, #21, which is the grand family cabana that accommodates up to 16 people vs. 6 in the standard cabanas. Cabana #21 cannot be reserved online, you must call DCL to book it.
Looking towards the higher number cabanas:
Now let’s talk about location. Cabana #1 is next to Cookies Too BBQ, and the numbers get higher as they move father away from Cookies Too. This means that the higher the cabana number, the farther you are from the family beach, Cookies Too, and the ship. You used to be father from the bathrooms as well, but they have recently constructed these new bathrooms down with the higher number cabanas:
I talk in great detail about cabana numbers and locations in my post about cabana #14, so instead of repeating all of that here, I urge you to visit that post for a lot more information about location and which one would be right for you.
The one thing that I think is worth mentioning here is that while cabanas 1-12 have a true beach right in front of them, cabanas 14-21 are actually in front of a lagoon area that is separated from the main ocean by a large sandbar. You can see the sandbar clearly in the center of this photo, with the ocean on the far side and the lagoon on the right:
I have heard that the water level in the lagoon varies with the tide.

We stayed in this cabana and actually liked not having all the foilage. Foilage = more bugs. We felt that we had plenty of privacy and especially liked being at the far end of the beach. The little lagoon was so peaceful and quiet. We re-booked this cabana again for our next cruise.

Thanks for the feedback! I never thought about bugs before. I can definitely see why people would like the peaceful lagoon – it really is so calm and quiet!
