Skechers Go Walks are my favorite walking shoe and have been since I discovered them about a year ago. We were about to go to Disney World (trip reports here) last year and I was in desperate need of a new pair of shoes. I Googled “most comfortable shoe for Disney World” and according to Google, Skechers Go Walks were the hands-down winner. I gave them a try and fell in love. While at Disney World, I must have seen 100 other people wearing them so perhaps I was not the only one using Google to pick out my shoes. For the first time ever, my feet never once hurt while at the parks. I was sold. If you have followed my blog for a while, you have seen me mention these shoes here and there but I decided it was finally time to dedicate a post to them.
Right now, my daughters and I wear these shoes 95% of the time. In addition to having a memory foam sole that makes them ridiculously comfortable, they have the added advantages (at least to me) of not having laces and not requiring socks. Some Go Walks do have laces, but we have always worn the ones without. When I am trying to get 3 kids out the door, this saves some serious time. We can literally be out the door less than 30 seconds after arriving at the shoe box by the door. Now, not wearing socks does have a disadvantage, especially during the warmer months. Once your feet start to sweat, the shoes will start to smell. However, I just throw ours in the washing machine and let them air dry about once a week and the smell is gone. I have noticed that the memory foam soles do eventually flatten out and lose the cushion feel, depending on how much you wear them. But, by the time this has happened on ours, either the toes have holes in them (thank you swing sets and scooters) or the girls have outgrown them and it is time for another pair already.
Added bonus: these shoes are available in TONS of different colors and styles, and new ones are constantly being added. My girls have always been able to quickly find a style they like because the selection is so big.

Sizing tip: I wear mine without socks and have found that going down a half size works best for me.

I’m still enjoying my first pair, which I purchased based on your original recommendation, and have a new pair waiting for me in my closet for when these ones wear out. I do wear mine daily around the house and after more than six months of use, the foam is starting to not be as cushiony as it once was. I guess the recommendation should be to purchase new Go Walks before going to Disney so that you can take full advantage of that brand new memory foam.
I hope you guys are settling in okay and that you are feeling well. We have most of our school behind us for the year, which is good, because the heat (and humidity soon to follow, I’m sure) are starting to hit our area. We had the AC on for the first time yesterday.

That is fantastic that you are almost done with school! We are so very close. I think in another week we will have it wrapped up for the year. We are settling into the apartment nicely but are anxious to move into the new house. We are set to close the deal next Friday and then Monday June 6 is the big moving day! It will be good to see all of our “stuff” again after it seemed to magically vanish a month ago. I am definitely going to try to enjoy my one last week of “freedom” from housework before it all starts again. I am feeling well and plan to start slowly exercise soon now that I am over a month post surgery. I was so sedentary for so long and I can tell that I am seriously out of shape. We also have a 2 week trip to Texas coming up in a couple of weeks and are looking forward to that. Do you have anything fun planned for summer vacation?

That is great that you will soon be settled in a “real” home again. My kids were always excited to see all of their stuff again. As for summer, we don’t have any really major plans thus far besides planning a big Canada Day party (the day after Canada Day, but oh well. We wanted to have it on a weekend.)
