Day 7: Arches National Park, Utah
(If you would like to start this trip report from the beginning, you can do that here.)
After over a year, I am almost done with this trip report! Just 2 days left!
The final full day of the trip started out in Moab, Utah at the Red Cliffs Lodge. There are lots of pictures of this beautiful hotel in yesterday’s report, which you can read here. This was the view that my husband and daughter woke up to right outside their back door:
Can you even imagine seeing this from your hotel room???
Breakfast was with the group at the lodge this morning, and then it was onto the bus for the drive to Arches National Park. They stopped at the visitor center for photos and bathrooms.
Then it was back onto the bus for the short drive to the starting point for the hike to Delicate Arch. Here are some photos taken from the bus:
The hike to Delicate Arch is not easy. This sign gives the details:
The adventure guides stressed that each person needed to drink 3 water bottles bottles each way (6 total – provided by ADB) in order to stay hydrated. For those who didn’t feel up to such a strenuous hike, there was an option for an easier hike but that hike wouldn’t get you up close to the arch. Although several members of the group chose to go this route, unfortunately I don’t have any details or photos about it. Here are some photos from the hike to Delicate Arch:
They stopped periodically for short breaks:
This ledge looks terrifying to me:
I wish I didn’t have to blur out the faces in this photo because everyone looks so happy! But, I don’t have their permission so I must.
And finally, the Delicate Arch!
Everyone got a turn for photos:
Then it was time for the return hike. Back across the terrifying ledge:
I guess they were tired at the end.
After the hike, it was back onto the bus to drive into Moab for lunch on your own. They had time to eat and do some shopping. I don’t have any details but this must be where they ate lunch:
I think they also did some souvenir shopping, and then it was back on the bus to the Red Cliffs Lodge for an afternoon “on your own”. My daughter wanted to go on another trail ride and Dad sat this one out (he did go with her the day before). But, another mom and daughter from the group went so she did have some company.
Next it was time for the farewell dinner as tomorrow everyone would be going their separate ways. The dinner was held at the lodge, and there was live music and beautiful scenery:
After dinner they were treated to a slide show of photos that the adventure guides had taken throughout the trip. Once it was dark, it was time for a fire and smores:
After 7 amazing days, the trip had come to an end.
Up next: Day 8 – Going Home

Hi. This is awesome and has gotten me even MORE excited to go. We are going in April so I’d love to know what time of the year this trip took place? I’m trying to determine how to pack? I have 2 teenage girls as well.

Hi Stephanie! This trip was in late May 2019. They said it was very hot during the days but cool at night. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
