Recently I have been trying to do a little bit here and there to prepare for our October cruise on the Dream. I have been pulling out pirate stuff to see what still fits, making sure the kids have bathing suits that survived the summer, stuff like that. I also started to think about which princess dresses to pack for my 6 year old, since she is the only one still in princess mode (sniff, sniff). On our first cruise in 2013, all 3 were decked out in princess gear and now I am down to just one. When her princess days are behind us, there will be one sad mom around here……
Anyway, back on topic. For cruises, I typically pack several of the poofy, glittery Disney store dresses (you can read about my method for packing those here). This time, however, I am trying to keep things simple because October is going to be a very busy month around here, and we are only going to be on the ship for 3 nights. We will be leaving the ship both port days, so it looks like we will not even be able to attend the princess meet & greets – gasp! It would be our first time to miss it, but I am pretty sure we are going to be so busy that it might just not happen. I have already discussed it with my 6 year old, and she is fine with it. But, she did request to wear a princess dress for formal night so I am going to pack one dress for that. Instead of taking the time and space to pack a poofy dress, I am encouraging her to pick one of our Little Adventures dresses. If you are not already familiar with them, they are awesome for 4 reasons:
They are washable
They shed no glitter
They are soft & not scratchy
They fold & pack very flat, taking up almost no room in the suitcase
We have accrued quite a collection over the years, and my girls have played in these at least as much, if not more than, the fancy Disney store ones. These are also the only dresses they are allowed to wear outside since they are washable. I don’t put them in the dryer, but they wash and hang dry beautifully.
It has been over a year since I have bought one, and when I checked what is available now I was pleased to see that they have expanded their collection and styles even more. They change their styles of each princess periodically which I like, and they even have several hard to find options which may or may not have made their way into my shopping cart (more on that later – be sure to read to the end!). You can see all of the available options by clicking here, but I just have to show you some of them here. For current prices and availability, you can click on the name or photo of the dress.
For some reason they use the Disney princess names on some of the dresses but not all of them. For example, this one is called the Ice Princess, and there are 2 versions available:
The stock on these is limited right now, but hopefully they will restock soon. While we are on the subject of Frozen, here are 3 of the Anna dresses available. This one is called the Scandinavian Princess Coronation Dress:
For some reason the different sizes of this dress are listed as separate items. I linked to the 5-7 size, but you can find the other sizes by searching the name of the dress on Amazon.
Here are 2 different versions of the traditional Anna dress, called the Traditional Scandinavian Princess:
There are four different traditional Cinderella dresses available. Here they use the actual name and call it the Cinderella Princess. This is just one of the styles, but you can click here to see the other 3.
There are also 2 versions of the Amulet Princess (aka Sofia):
And the Arabian Princess (aka Jasmine):
This Lily Pad princess is another one that lists the different sizes separately, so be sure to search the name to see all of the sizes:
You also have Sleeping Beauty (3 versions available, click here to see the rest), the Scottish Princess and the Yellow Beauty (4 styles available, click here to see them all):
And finally, Rapunzel (4 versions available, click here to see the rest) and Snow White (4 versions available, click here to see them all):
And finally, the 4 dresses that excite me the most because they are not always easy to find……..
The Beauty Day Dress (aka Belle):
The Ice Queen Coronation Dress:
And my personal favorite, the Mermaid Ball Gown:
