Day 5: At Sea
Day five was at day at sea – finally! We had 3 busy port days and we were tired! It was a great day for a day at sea. It was a beautiful day – mid 50’s and partly cloudy – a great day for sailing. The navigator for the day was full of activities as usual, and it was Frozen day so many of them were Frozen themed. Generally on sea days in warm weather, we spend it by the pool, but it wasn’t quite warm enough for that. We started our day off with breakfast in Cabanas, but on the way my husband and I got speciality coffee from Cove Cafe. The coffee of the day was a Carmel Hazelnut Mocha so I got one hot and my husband got an iced version. The barista even put a Mickey in my coffee!
I had a spa appointment in the morning for a hot stone massage. I just love the spa on all the ships (you can see the spa on the Dream here) – they have excellent service, many different options (massages, facials, body wraps), and everyone I have had the opportunity to have work on me has been excellent. Some of the workers have more of a “sales pitch” at the end of the service, but most of the time just a kind “no thank you” and they will stop. The spa is clean, comfortable, and every service I have had was excellent and relaxing. I highly recommend booking a spa appointment if you are cruising.
While I was at the spa, my husband and children attended a special invitation-only event for gold and platinum members. They were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at Tangled: The Musical and were given some other information about upcoming plans for cruises. Nothing about the new ships and nothing (that I can recall at this point) too informative or exciting. If you are a regular Disney cruiser, there was some talk about the entertainment and how they have been “repeating” shows on consecutive nights and how many people don’t like that. It appears the management is well aware of peoples’ feelings and changes with scheduling of night shows will be occurring in the future.
We then spent the rest of the day doing various activities including watching the ventriloquist John Kimmons, who was very funny, and then playing Bingo before we went to our evening show which was Greta Salome. Greta is an Icelandic pop star – she is a singer and violinist and she joined us on board to entertain us and give us some information about her home country before we went. She is a true entertainer! She can play the violin with such talent and her voice is amazing! Her show was truly awesome and we all loved it!
We then went to the Freezing the Night Away Party and had a great time. Disney always does a great job with their deck parties – so much fun and great music and dancing! We had a lot of fun with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf.
Dinner that night was Frozen themed – delicious as always and fun!
We ended the night with my husband and I going to the adult show of the ventriloquist John Kimmons who was funny and entertaining!
Our cabin steward left us an awesome towel animal again. What a great day at sea – relaxing, fun and got us ready for our next port – ICELAND!
