Guest Trip Report: February 7, 2020 7 Night on the Disney Wonder from New Orleans – Day 6
Today is a low-key day at sea for the Tillys. The trip is winding down, and Michael is missing his house, bed, toys, etc. He is still having a great time, but a seven-night itinerary is maybe a bit longer than I would try again with a 2-year-old. We woke up this morning and headed to get some breakfast at Triton’s. After a quick bite, we made it to Toddler Time in the D Lounge so that Michael could play with some little friends and enjoy the toys. After toddler time, we noticed that it was Open House again in the kids club. Dad and Michael headed to play while I made my way to Cove Café for even more essay grading.
To help get me motivated to power through the grading, this was a two-coffee morning.
After play/work time, we met up again and headed to Triton’s for lunch.
This was my favorite lunch menu of the entire trip. Gnocchi is one of my very favorite things, and DCL’s version never disappoints. Michael loves pizza, and he enjoyed the pizza from the kids menu for his lunch.
At 2:00, a bonus matinee showing of Frozen, A Musical Spectacular was offered in the Walt Disney Theater. I love when the matinee shows are offered because the theater is usually less crowded (this one was packed though!) and it frees up the evening for other activities (shopping!). This was our second time to sail the Wonder since this show debuted, and it was just as magical as I remembered. The ladies who perform the two leads are incredibly gifted vocalists, and as expected, Olaf completely steals the show. The singing put Michael to sleep, and he was able to get a good nap during the show. After the show was over, we went in search of characters and found Mickey and Goofy in their Hawaiian outfits.
As usual, early dinner time snuck up on us again, and we hurriedly prepared for dinner at Animator’s Palate tonight. Before our cruise, a nice family in our sailing’s Facebook group offered a Mickey outfit to anyone who could potentially wear a 2T as their children had all outgrown the costume. We claimed it, and Michael very proudly wore it to dinner.
This was our opportunity to enjoy the Animation Magic show.
For this show, everyone is given a placemat and encouraged to draw a character from our imaginations. The servers take these drawings and then at the end of dinner, they are magically animated and appear on the screens in the restaurant!
My character is the red one—drawing is not a strength of mine, ha! The coolest part is being “credited” as a Disney animator.
They do give your placemats back at the end with the addition of a seal that certifies that you are an official Disney animator. So much fun! After dinner, we spent some time shopping for souvenirs and then headed back to the room to get some rest.
