This guest trip report was written by Cynthia, who sailed the Disney Fantasy on July 27, 2019, on the 11 night Southern Caribbean itinerary. You may remember her as the guest blogger who shared her previous experience with the medical center on the Disney Fantasy, which you can read about here. She has now graciously offered to share her adventures with us! This is a unique itinerary not often offered on the Fantasy so I am very excited to get to share this with you!
Day 3: At Sea

Day 3 of the cruise was another day at sea. I love days at sea because I can sleep in a little, enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast, explore the ship, and enjoy all the activities the day has to offer without all the rush of port days. This sea day was perfect.
I also like sea days because I have the opportunity to dine in restaurants other than Cabanas for breakfast (normally we are rushing to join shore excursion groups or disembark the ship, so we just grab something quick at Cabanas.) Today we decided to have breakfast in Royal Court where the breakfast menu options include yogurt parfaits, pancakes, Belgian waffles with strawberry cream, eggs cooked to order, omelets, and southern hash. I settled on a simple egg white sandwich and toast with juice. It was a perfect way to start the day.
I love the decor of Royal Court, especially the art work.
After breakfast, my girls headed off to their selected activities and I did some exploring and character spotting. One of my most favorite parts of a Disney Cruise is how available and approachable all the characters are and how much they enjoy interacting with all the guests – young and old. You never know who will be right around the corner just waiting to engage in conversation!
As it has been since day 1 of the cruise, the weather was sunny and warm and the sea was calm. Perfect sailing weather again.
This was our first cruise as Gold level Castaway Club members, so we were invited to the reception in the Walt Disney Theatre for Gold and Platinum level cruisers. My oldest daughter joined me for this event. Cruise director Peter told us there were almost 3,000 Gold and Platinum level cruisers on the cruise – the most ever on a single Disney Cruise. Here is the invitation we received to the event.
The event was a “behind the scenes” preview of Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. The entertainment director and his technical staff gave a first hand look at what it takes to present this show. The entire cast of the show performed a scene, and then the tech team demonstrated all the “behind the scenes” activities from prop changes to communications between the tech team members as they “called the show.” It was fascinating to see what goes on backstage. My oldest daughter is very involved in the technical work for her high school theatre productions. When she was telling this to Peter, our cruise director, before the presentation began, he introduced her to Colyn, the audio director of the Walt Disney Theater. Colyn invited her to sit in the audio booth and observe what he does during the show. She was thrilled.
A couple of days later an invitation was delivered to our cabin inviting her to a “backstage tour” of the Walt Disney Theatre. She was in heaven! All because she casually mentioned to Peter that she enjoyed working on the tech team for her high school theatre department. Just another example of how Disney goes the extra mile.
After the reception, we had a quick lunch at Flo’s (bacon cheeseburger and fries hit the spot) and then headed to deck 13 to explore the mini golf course and the view from the aft of the ship.
While we were at the golf course, I decided to visit the location where I fell and broke several bones in my hand last year. Everything is still the same! You can read all about my experience here in my guest post about the onboard medical care.
I fell on the deck surface and whacked the back of my left hand on the side of the brown platform holding up the big sink. Boy did that hurt!
We also stopped to check out the Aqua Lab area. I always seem to forget that this is hidden in the aft of the ship.
By this time we needed to make our way to our assigned time for the Frozen meet and greet. The only characters that were there were Anna and Elsa. I know on previous cruises other Frozen characters participated in the meet and greet. I guess everyone else was busy this afternoon.
After the Frozen meet and greet it was time to hustle to the Walt Disney Theatre for the afternoon showing of Toy Story 4. The theatre was filled for this showing.
After the movie, we went back to our cabin to get cleaned up for dinner. Dinner was in Enchanted Garden. I decided to try the Heirloom Tomato soup – very good. The Romaine Wedge salad – ok. Last, the Marjoram Scented Roast Chicken with baked Sweet Potatoes – very good. We could not decide between the chocolate brownie sundae and chocolate garden torte for dessert, so we decided to try both – they were both excellent.
After dinner we walked around the Lobby Atrium and enjoyed interacting with more characters, Everyone seemed to be out and about tonight having fun with the guests.
We also met Christopher and Jeremiah – guest services officers who were working at the guest services desk.
We also took a few moments to enjoy the beautiful decor of the Lobby Atrium.
The night was still youngish, so we made our way back to the Walt Disney Theatre for the evening entertainment: Christina Bianco – The Girl of a Thousand Voices. Her show was very entertaining for adults and children.
Although I was starting to wind down, my oldest daughter insisted that I at least try and make it through the 10:30 p.m. showing of Captain Marvel in the Buena Vista Theatre. Because it was on my list of movies to be seen on the cruise, I agreed. I made it through the whole movie, but when it was over, I was so ready to go to bed!
The end of a very busy day. I really needed a good night’s sleep so that I was ready for our day in Aruba.
