This is Disney Dream stateroom 6688 which is a category 6B Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. It is on deck 6 aft at the very back of the ship (which means it has a larger verandah than most rooms) on the starboard side. It sleeps 3 people and has the split bath configuration. These photos were taken in December 2018.
Here are the thoughts Elizabeth, who stayed in this room and submitted this review:
Since we’d booked only a couple of weeks before the cruise, we were able to book a VGT room and save almost $750 for the price of the room we ended up being assigned. But because we booked VGT, we didn’t get to choose our room. There were a lot of positives about it, but also one big negative.
A very good thing about our room was that it was on the very back of the ship, so we had phenomenal views on the two days in port. The ship backed into the two ports we went to (Castaway Cay and Nassau, Bahamas), so the views were stunning. This was our view at Castaway Cay:
In Nassau, we were the third of five ships parked in the port that day, so the rooms on the two sides of the ship wouldn’t have had much of a view save for the neighboring ships. It was also very quiet as the only foot traffic back there was from our neighbors. Accessing the room from the aft elevators meant that we didn’t have a ton of walking to do to get back to our room. And being on the sixth floor allowed us to only be one floor above the nursery and kids clubs. Because of the location on the back of the ship, we had a rather large veranda which overlooked the Mickey Mouse statue on the back of the ship. That was a fun and whimsical touch!
We had a pack and play for our daughter, which we placed right up against the couch. We moved the little coffee table to the veranda-end of the couch, and her pack and play fit right next to it. This allowed us to have a walkway between the desk and the pack and play, and we were still able to use the black out curtain that separated her area from our bed. We were very surprised by how much room we had in the room, even with the crib set up.
The bummer thing about the room was that we were right over the engines, so we really felt the movement of the ship backing in. It was a pretty noticeable vibration, and it occurred in the early morning of both port days. Just something to note if you’re thinking about booking a room at the aft of the ship.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the room as a whole, particularly considering that booking VGT allowed us to save more than $750 off of the cost of the rack rate.
