In June of 2014 my husband and I had the fantastic idea of taking a Disney Cruise without our 3 daughters. Why hadn’t we thought of this sooner?!? We had already taken the girls on a 6 night on the Magic and a 7 night on the Wonder, and we had a 7 night on the Magic booked for the upcoming October. We had been trying to plan a short kid-free getaway for some time now, and had also wondered if our daughters would enjoy the Dream or Fantasy (larger ships) as much as they had the Magic and Wonder (smaller ships). So, we did what any responsible parents would do and decided that we would “try out” the Dream first, without the girls! Ah, the things we do for our kids! I quickly found an upcoming sailing with *GT rates already out and we booked an OGT directly through DCL. I typically use a travel agent to book our cruises for the on board credit, but the cost of this cruise was so low due to the *GT rates that the on board credit would have been minimal. Booking a *GT rate was a first for us and it made me a little nervous not being able to pick our room, but we ended up loving our room! (FYI, we booked about 1 month prior to sailing and received our room assignment about 1 week prior to sailing.) We were assigned cabin 6504 which is a Category 9D Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom (Handicap Accessible) at the very front of deck 6. At first I was a little apprehensive about being all the way forward (we had been mid-ship on all of our previous cruises) but it turned out to not be a big deal at all. In fact, we ended up loving the location since it was a very short distance to the Quiet Cove (adult-only) area just a few levels up. I was surprised at how HUGE the room was (since it was handicap accessible) and there was SO MUCH floor space! Here are some photos:

Did you notice the window in the 3rd and 4th pictures? This in the main thing that I can see that some people might not like about this room. The window is not only slanted and hard to stand in front of/look out of, but it looks straight out of the front of the ship. You cannot see the ocean from this window, just a flat inaccessible maintenance area on the front of the ship. Be warned though, that I did see a maintenance worker walking around in this area so be sure to close the curtains when you want privacy. This didn’t bother me because I booked an ocean view room for the natural daylight, not the view. But, if seeing the ocean and scenery is important to you, you will not be happy with this window. Otherwise the room was quiet and clean and we really enjoyed staying here.
