A reader just sent me these photos of a daily Navigator for the Wonder from 2004! I posted them on my Facebook page, but I am making this post for them as well so that I can link to them on my Navigator page.
At that time, the Wonder was alternating 3 & 4 nights Bahamas itineraries from Port Canaveral. Some of the notable things that caught my eye:
-It doesn’t say which characters will be at the character appearances
-there was a cruise director named Jacqui
-early dining was 6:00 instead of 5:45
-Triton’s had a dress code of “jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women”
-Parrot Cay (now Tiana’s Place) and Animator’s Palate had a dress code of “no shorts or jeans”
-Palo was only $10 per person (today it is $40), which makes me shocked that the onboard booking offer was the same as it is today: 10% off plus a $200 credit for 7+ night sailings – they need to adjust that $200 for inflation just like everything else! If the price of Palo has gone up 300%, shouldn’t the onboard credit go up at least a little bit?
-Apparently Wavebands allowed smoking after 9:00 PM
-There were not lifeguards at the pools (which actually weren’t added until late 2013)
I also just received a FULL SET of Navigators for a 7 night sailing on the Magic in March 2002. It will take me some time to get them all organized and ready but stay tuned, they’re coming soon!
